Bain Capital commits up to US$250 million to Hong Kong e-commerce lender FundPark

Hong Kong’s FundPark, which lends to small and mid-sized online sellers, said Bain Capital has agreed to provide up to US$250 million in financing: US$100 million upfront and up to US$150 million more, subject to conditions. The company also said it has now provided more than US$10 billion in cumulative financing to over 40,000 online shops across Asia and beyond.

Why it matters: Debt facilities from large institutional investors are what let revenue-based lenders scale, and a commitment of this size gives FundPark room to grow its loan book well beyond its current base. It also adds to Hong Kong’s case as a base for fintechs serving cross-border sellers.
