Singapore-headquartered Sea plans to list Monee, its financial services arm, according to an internal memo from founder Forrest Li reviewed by Reuters. Li said going public would give the business “the resources and the room to go further and faster.” Monee runs mobile wallets, payment processing, credit and banking services in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan and Brazil.
Why it matters: A standalone Monee would give investors a clearer view of one of Southeast Asia’s largest digital lending and wallet businesses, a part of Sea’s group that is usually overshadowed by Shopee. Coming alongside GCash owner Mynt’s record IPO, it points to a reopening window for regional fintech listings.
